Media Artist :
Vivi / Wei Wei / vivi7.me@gmail.com

Biography:

Vivi is a research-based media artist exploring the intersections of interactive technology, immersive storytelling, and digital perception. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Media Design Practices at ACCD, where her work encompasses experimental video, animation, and interactive installations, drawing on methodologies from Speculative Design and Participatory Design. Influenced by the Zen Buddhist concept of “Interbeing” and the Western philosophical framework of “Nomadology,” she deconstructs and reconfigures relational networks between subjects, investigating how digital art, through technological intervention, reshapes human perception, cross-cultural interactions, and interspecies coexistence.

Artist Statement:

For me, close connections and interactions with others are an indispensable core of my creative practice. These interactions, in an increasingly digitalized era, further expand my connection with the world. Through technology, I explore new possibilities in the convergence of self, cross-cultural communities, and interspecies relationships, continually seeking future visions of novel forms of coexistence.

My work encompasses moving images, installations, visual art, and creative writing. Anchored in a technological perspective, I explore the symbiotic relationships between humans, cross-cultural communities, and different species, further investigating how to construct deeper intimate connections and highly collaborative partnerships. Building upon this, I examine how technology has mediated, reshaped, and redefined these relationships over time.

Influenced by the Zen Buddhist concept of “Interbeing” from Eastern philosophy and the theory of capitalism and spiritual nomadism in Western philosophy, “Nomadology,” I am committed to deconstructing and reconfiguring the rhizomatic interconnections between subjects to explore the dynamic balance and harmonious coexistence between subject and object. In this process, I employ the fluidity of cross-media creative methods to reveal the processes of deterritorialization and fluid transformation in subject-object relationships, further investigating how species renegotiate the elastic boundaries of mutual dependence.

My practice integrates RGB lasers, biosensors, experimental moving images, and interactive installations to explore how cross-media art shapes human perception. Through real-time data streams, I enable audience members’ physiological data to drive the dynamic transformations of my work directly, imbuing physical space with a high degree of responsiveness, making it seem like a living organism. In this process, I focus on the interactions between individuals and their environments and the continued exploration of interspecies relationships in the digital age. Through various media experiments, I examine how technology reshapes perceptual patterns, reconstructs intersubjective interactions, and expands the boundaries of relationships between humans and non-human beings.
