MOUNT WILSON SYMPHONY : A LIVE CONCERT · [2024]

What is MOUNT WILSON SYMPHONY : A LIVE CONCERT concept?
Through fostering interaction between humanity and the cosmos, our aim is to render visible the parallel universes composed of microscopic particles, thereby expanding human perception of the existence of tiny particles and their constitutive objects. By scanning six distinct landmarks identified by Wilson and recording the natural sounds within specific timeframes, I have crafted visualized particle music artwork. As viewer navigate different cosmic scenes within the concert interface and adjust the customized VJ controller, corresponding changes occur in time and space (sound and landmarks). Grounded in the wave function collapse principle of quantum mechanics, my work enables humans to perceive a superposition of multiple variables when observing objective entities. Just as with my creation, humans acquire a god-like perspective, capable of overseeing everything and freely traversing various parallel dimensions while observing and adjusting parameters of different universes. This prompts further contemplation on the relationship between humanity and the cosmos: Why do humans need external controllers to observe parallel universes? Is there a higher entity manipulating human perception? Are we microscopic entities manipulated by controllers in higher-level parallel universes?

What is the MOUNT WILSON SYMPHONY : A LIVE CONCERT context?
Multi-world interpretation: denies the existence of wavefunction collapse, argues that all possible measurements are realized in different universes, and avoids the notion of collapse.(Based on NO (math.) wave function collapse)

What is the sound research about MOUNT WILSON SYMPHONY : A LIVE CONCERT?
Pitch (of a musical note):Mysterious / Rhythmic / Natural / Dangerous / Immersive

Mysterious:Our project aims to encourage viewers to explore the profound question: who controls the parallel universes that humans cannot perceive? The unknown has always been a mysterious realm of the human mind, and our project will lead the audience on a mysterious and exciting journey of discovery.

Rhythmic: This project is an interactive installation artwork presented as a live concert, blending the interactive experience of music, audience and installation. In terms of music selection, we pursued a rhythmic repertoire to ensure that the audience is immersed in an exciting musical atmosphere.

Natural: Mount Wilson Symphony, the input is Mount Wilson, so I kept the original Mount Wilson natural sound.

Dangerous: When humans explore higher beings, the process is fraught with temptation and uncertainty, and comes with a certain amount of danger.

Why didn't I choose the natural sounds of the forest for the concert?
Pitch (of a musical note):Mysterious / Rhythmic / Natural / Dangerous / Immersive
The concept of my creations is intended to inspire the viewer to explore the relationship between human perception, parallel universes and higher dimensional beings. This experience is inevitably in a paradox of familiarity and strangeness. Human perception is circumscribed and defined, which raises the question: who is really behind this? Is the state we are currently in part of a parallel universe? Why can't we have God's perspective? There is no way to create the strangeness of familiarity to keep the audience in contemplation if only the sounds of the forest are used. I am not talking about the relationship between human beings, nature and society; nature is not the subject of the argument, but only the medium of my narrative.
The immersive concert approach to presenting my interactive installation, using only a single forest sound has no way to broaden one's perception and enhance the experience.
