Based on a physical space created with interactive lighting, this project aims to visualize the psychological experiences and environments of couples, thereby delving into how private and shared spaces can coexist within the same dimension. Specifically, the real-time dynamic changes in lighting serve not only as a direct reflection of individual emotional states but also as a sensitive response to the interactions within the relationship. By dynamically responding to the audience’s interactions, the project further visualizes the invisible “elastic boundaries” between private and shared spaces—a mechanism that effectively safeguards individual autonomy while maintaining a resilient connection between the two. Moreover, this exploration seeks to comprehensively examine the formation and maintenance of emotional boundaries, highlighting the inherent fragility and resilience in intimate relationships and reflecting on how to find balance and harmony within the subtle tension of coexistence.
What is the BETWEEN ENCLOSURE & EXPANSION source of inspiration?
In intimate relationships, I often deeply feel the complexity of “distance.” When we’re too close, personal space is invaded, leading to a sense of suffocation; yet when we’re too far apart, there’s an overwhelming loneliness from the inability to feel each other’s presence. This imbalance has made me realize that security in intimacy doesn’t simply come from closeness or distance, but from finding a dynamic balance between the two.
